Strengthening of the Örnsköldsviks Bridge with Near Surface Mounted CFRP Rods
During June/July 2006 a full scale loading of a railway bridge up to failure was carried out in Sweden. The opportunity to make this loading came up due to partly upgrade the old line and partly building of a new railway line, the Botnia Line, between Sundsvall and Umeå in Swe-den. This then lead to that some bridges along the old line had to be demolished. One of the redundant bridges was located in Örnsköldsvik, a small town 600 km north of Stockholm.
The project was a part of the European funded research project Sustainable Bridges (www.sustainblebridges.net).
