Social media as facilitators of tacit knowledge sharing practices amongst public sector employees
This research explores the role, use and value of social media and tacit knowledge sharing practices. Its particular focus is the support of tacit knowledge exchange between employees in public sector organisations. It investigates the extent to which social media might replicate the less visible aspects of face-to-face tacit knowledge sharing.
There is very limited evidence on the role of social media within governmental bodies in facilitating the sharing of tacit knowledge. This thesis will bring new understanding on this subject. This work will also provide institutions governmental bodies with an understanding of the place of social media in the context of knowledge work.
