An Evaluation Of HeARtbeat augmented reality smartphone application for 12 lead ECG electrode placement teaching to health and social care pre-registration students.
This study focuses on developing a set of digital tools integrated into an smartphone application (heARtbeat App) that will assist in the accurate acquisition of ECG recordings. This study will take a unique interdisciplinary approach to developing useful and appropriate digital tools for effective teaching and execution of ECGs.
Aim: To investigate augmented reality smartphone application heARtbeat, as an adjunct to traditional learning formats, for assessing and training health professional students, and quality assure qualified health professionals performance of placement of electrodes to record a 12 lead ECG.
Objectives:
• To develop an augmented reality digital application for teaching the execution, and acquisition of ECGs.
• To enhance and enable student understanding of correct ECG execution.
• To enhance quality assurance of correct ECG execution for medical and health practitioners.
• To develop an appropriate methodology for the development of future AR medical applications.
