Development of new sustainable approach in drug discovery: One-pot parallel synthetic strategy to minimise the environmental footprint
Over thousands of Medicinal Chemistry research groups around the world across academia, research-based institutions are involved in synthesizing libraries of compounds in the early drug discovery phase. During this synthetic process, massive amount of chemicals, reagents, solvents, and power consumption are observed that have a significant negative impact on the sustainability. New directions and strategies must be incorporated into the drug discovery process to minimize the consumption these environmental factors to improve the environmental footprint. We aim to improve the sustainable laboratory practice through designing a new one-pot parallel synthetic approach where several target compounds will be synthesized in a single reaction cell to minimize the consumptions of these environmental factors.
