Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival Research Project
This research project explores the interdependencies between stakeholders within the Scottish jazz and blues scenes through the gathering and processing of data from musicians, promoters, audiences and public funders towards an understanding of a combined ecology. The project takes place over a 36-month period with annual presentations to stakeholders of work in progress. The project will culminate in a compiled report that will be freely disseminated and at least one peer-reviewed article drawing on key themes derived from findings. The report is intended to provide practical guidance to those working in the field, particularly practitioners, and related publication is anticipated to contribute to areas of research with relevance to festivals and events, music industries and jazz studies.
