Mara Seaweed
Process intensification and decarbonisation of a seaweed drying process. This is an energy intensive process, requiring specialist heating equipment to control the heat supplied to seaweed drying appliances. This heating equipment has to-date typically been fuelled using fossil fuels such as fuel oils or natural gas. Feasibility work in this project seeks to evaluate systems used to supply process heat, in order to identify which technology could be most effectively replaced or retrofitted to facilitate the use of alternative and renewable fuels to decarbonise the process.
