Narratives of Scottish Modernism: Christine Orr and Naomi Mitchison
The main objective of this project is to conduct archival research that will lead to new and internationally significant academic publications on the literary work of two modern Scottish female authors: Naomi Mitchison and Christine Orr. These publications will take the form of at least two articles to be published in academic journals and, following the completion of funded activities, two scholarly editions of these authors’ two most important texts: Mitchison’s The Corn King and the Spring Queen (1931) and Orr’s The Glorious Thing (1919). These outputs will draw increased attention to these authors within the field of Scottish literary studies, as well as to neglected Scottish literature within the wider field of international modernist studies.
