On the Margins - Collaborative Research Network
“On the Margins” is a Collaborative Research Network that will bring together academics, researchers and practitioners involved or interested in collaborative research, participatory methods and knowledge co-production, with specific focus on marginalised groups and communities. An interdisciplinary network involving expertise from both social sciences and humanities, On the Margins will have two main aims: firstly, it will critically explore key issues concerning research co-production including its benefits and shortcomings, ethics and power relations, empowerment and participation, as well as latest methodologies and innovations in the field. Secondly, the network aims to provide a forum for the development of new research ideas and partnerships between academic and non-academic actors, exploring and promoting more creative and alternative ways of knowing and understanding contemporary social worlds. The network will build on from a recent successful collaborative project co-created and co-produced with people seeking asylum in Glasgow, looking at their everyday experiences of housing.
