The Edinburgh Editions of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
The works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle have never – beyond a small number of individual texts – been published in a scholarly, critical edition. The proposed Research Network, based in Edinburgh, is comprised of the Editorial Board for the Edinburgh Editions of Conan Doyle, now contracted to Edinburgh University Press. This is a large international Editorial Board with members based in the UK and America. The purpose of this Network is to facilitate Editorial meetings, workshops, and academic visits to libraries and special collections of Conan Doyle materials, as well as to create a website that will disseminate the work of the network to the wider public. It is also proposed that the Board will host a conference on Conan Doyle and his influence, workshops at the Edinburgh International Book Festival and series of public lectures. The popularity of Conan Doyle is such that the resultant publications will reach beyond academe to a wider public audience and will help to inform future adaptations of Doyle’s works for film and television. This proposal is a collaboration between Edinburgh and Edinburgh Napier Universities.
