What is it?
Edinburgh Napier University offers graduate scholarships to graduates (both UG and PG) of the School of Arts & Creative Industries to assist them in the move from higher education to work. Scholarships are intended to provide financial support to allow graduates the flexibility to either take time out of work to implement a creative business plan or a career development idea, or to gain experience by working on a voluntary basis, thus allowing them time to build their portfolio and experience.
Scholarships will be offered to graduates to develop and enhance their potential. Activities which could be eligible for a scholarship include:
- Development of a business or research proposal (including areas such as market research/testing or costs of attending training course)
- Product development/prototyping
- Acquisition of underlying intellectual property
- Travel and living costs associated with a professional work placement (in the UK or elsewhere)
- Costs associated with exhibiting or promoting their work (either individual or group shows)
Successful applicants will receive an award up to £2,500 depending on the scale and nature of the project. Funding will be made in two stages. An initial payment of 75% will be made on award, with 25% paid on completion and acceptance of a Scholarship report.
The maximum duration of the scholarship will be one year.
To be eligible, applicants must have graduated from the School of Arts & Creative Industries within the past two years; and have a creative business, project or career development idea, in its early stages, which would benefit from a period of financial support and assistance.
Students applying for a scholarship must complete the specified application form, which provides the applicant with the opportunity to make a detailed proposal of the reason why they are applying. Applicants will also be expected to specify their expected requirements for use of Edinburgh Napier facilities and support from Edinburgh Napier staff.
