Are there any differences between the online and on-campus pre-sessional courses?

In terms of the learning outcomes and content, there are no differences between the online and on-campus pre-sessional courses. (Of course, you won’t be able to meet our friendly EAP team in person or see the beautiful historic city of Edinburgh, but hopefully you will be able to in the not-too-distant future…)

If you study online, you will receive all the support and interaction with tutors you need: you won’t even feel like you’re studying an online course! If you choose to come to Edinburgh and study with us in person then you will enjoy meeting your classmates and tutors face to face and enjoy a period of settling into Edinburgh life before your main degree course starts.
No matter whether you study with us online or in person, you will still enjoy the same benefits:

  • Your course will be delivered by a team of highly qualified and experienced EAP tutors.
  • Bespoke teaching and interaction with your tutors and classmates daily
  • Access to Edinburgh Napier University resources and support, e.g. e-Library, careers guidance.
  • Our friendly EAP team is always here to help you!  You can reach us through various channels.

Is there a difference in the fees between online and campus pre-sessionals?

The fee will remain the same as you will receive the same high quality teaching, resources and support provided by Edinburgh Napier University.

What equipment would I need to join the online EAP course?

It’s quite simple really, all you need is a desktop computer or laptop and a fast internet connection.  We will let you know in advance which applications you will need to download for the online delivery sessions.

Please note that if your device isn’t suitable or your internet connection is too slow, you won’t be able to join the course.

Do I need a Visa for the Online pre-sessional course?

No, as the pre-sessional course will be delivered online, and you will not be travelling to the UK (yet!).

Will I receive a CAS?

Online: No CAS will be required to study an online pre-sessional due to the online nature of the course meaning that students will not be travelling to the UK.
On Campus: If you choose to study in an on-campus pre-sessional then we will issue a CAS letter once you have accepted a place on the course.

I do not have the English language requirements for the programme I am looking to apply for. Should I still apply and if so, which EAP course should I apply for?

We offer a free English entry level test to access your English level. From the test results we can determine and advise which EAP course will be the best option for you.

I have questions about my degree programme, who can I contact?

We cannot advise on your degree course application. Please contact our Admissions team for specific information (ugadmissions@napier.ac.uk /pgadmissions@napier.ac.uk)

Can I apply for student accommodation if I study a pre-sessional course on campus?

Yes, it is possible to apply for Napier student accommodation if you study an on-campus pre-sessional course during SUMMER. You must let us know at least 8 weeks before the start of your summer pre-sessional course and we will arrange a room with student accommodation team for you.

However, it is not possible to apply for student accommodation if you study a Long-term or winter pre-sessional English course, as the student accommodations are fully occupied by term-time students. However, we are happy to give you advice on how to search for private / rental accommodation options.
