Personal development tutor
You’ll be assigned a personal development tutor during your first weeks at Edinburgh Napier. They will help you settle into life at university and be your first point of contact for any academic or personal issues you may experience.

This online resource introduces you to some of the key skills you need for successful University-level study, with tips and advice from students in areas such as effective reading, academic writing, oral presentations, revision and exam strategies.
Confident Futures workshops
Designed by a team of industry-recognised consultants, these workshops develop a range of skills, attributes and attitudes that help you progress in studies, work and life. Workshops include assertiveness, creative problem solving, goal setting, managing conflict and networking.

Personal support services
Counselling and mental wellbeing
Our counselling service offers non-judgemental and accepting environment by dedicated and qualified counsellors.
Our counsellors can help you by providing:
- One to one assessment and counselling, in general, up to 5 sessions.
- Student can self-refer by e-mailing email@example.com.
- Short-term counselling can include student-lead exploration and goal orientation. This can include explorations and goals regarding your studies as well as your life in general.
- Counselling can help with building emotional resilience during periods in a student’s life when they are feeling anxious, depressed or overwhelmed.
- Counselling offers a space that allows for support and exploration of personal and relational difficulties (past or present) where the student can develop new resources and coping strategies.
- As a service we can, with the student’s agreement, also look at referral to other support within the community.

Our mental health advisers can help if you:
- have an existing mental health condition

Faith and spirituality

Nightline is a confidential support and information service run by students for students. You can talk to someone from 8pm to 8am online or by calling 0131 557 4444.
Student mentors can offer friendly, informal support and advice to help you through your studies. All of our mentors are trained students who have been studying with us for at least one year and understand the challenges you are facing.
International student support
