Find out how research into how we learn can impact on our learning and apply that insight to your lesson planning.
What will I learn?
In this short course you will develop your knowledge of the science of learning and how this knowledge can be used to enhance learning and teaching. You will develop your understanding of how the following impact on learning:
- attention
- the limitations of working memory
- how we process new content
- prior knowledge
- retrieval of information
You will then apply your new knowledge by updating a lesson plan or teaching activity.
You will bring along a lesson plan for a lesson you have recently taught. As your knowledge and understanding of the science of learning develops throughout the day, you will have opportunities reflect on, and where appropriate make amendments to, your lesson plan.
You will learn via inputs from the course tutor and through discussion with other course participants.
