Overview

This is specialised one-day CPD event focusing on unique aspects of cardiovascular care, prevention, and management in women, led by experts in the field. 

The course will:

  1. Develop skills in managing heart disease in women, in particular: You will be able to describe the relationship between menopause and heart health.
  2. Be able to recommend treatment for intrusive menopausal patients with cardiovascular disease.
  3. Demonstrate key skills in women’s ECG recognition.
  4. Have increased awareness of the difference in access, uptake and adherence to cardiac rehabilitation programmes by sexes.
  5. Gain applied knowledge of how to use wearables in clinical practice to increase physical activity to improve heart health.
On completion of the course, you will receive a CPD certificate of attendance as demonstration of your learning (5 hours). 

Learning Outcomes

This in-person course at our Sighthill campus will help health professionals contribute to their own professional development as it relates to women’s cardiovascular health.

Women's health is a critical aspect of healthcare that requires continuous learning and professional development to ensure that healthcare professionals can provide the highest quality care to their patients. This CPD event is designed to address the unique and evolving healthcare needs of women, recognising that gender-specific considerations play a significant role in the provision of healthcare services.

Participants will gain crucial knowledge about the risks, symptoms, and prevention strategies related to cardiovascular health in women, which are often underrepresented in general health education.

The short course will share professional expertise in an international priority area. The course will bring together health professionals from different backgrounds who all seek to advance their own knowledge, grow their networks and build their careers. 

How you'll be taught

A wide range of learning activities and resources will be used. You will hear from experts, work on clinical scenarios and have the opportunity to reflect on how your learning can be applied in professional practice.

This CPD course is open to health professionals (doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, nursing associates, healthcare assistants) with interest in women’s cardiovascular health.
