What can I do to prevent infection?

You can reduce your risk of getting and spreading respiratory infections by:
  • maintaining good hand hygiene, including washing your hands with soap or sanitiser after coughing, sneezing or going to the toilet, and prior to eating and drinking
  • avoiding direct hand contact with your eyes, nose and mouth
  • avoiding contact with people that have a respiratory illness, and avoid using their personal items such as their mobile phone
  • covering your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing with disposable tissues and disposing of them in nearest bin after use - or sneeze into a flexed elbow
