Members of the public /community may have free reference access to our print collections and study space for their own educational purposes.  See membership options and how to apply at External Members and Visitors. 
Access to Library buildings is available during the University’s unrestricted hours.

Visitors who have a registered external membership will be able to gain admission to the library during restricted access times on production of the appropriate card i.e. an External Member’s Library Card, a SCONUL acceptance email and matriculation card from their home institution.  

During restricted opening times, admission to the buildings may be gained by using the intercom system at the main entrance at Craiglockhart, Sighthill, and Merchiston buildings, or by phoning Security on 0131 455 6119.
