Donald Smith

Donald Smith, CHME PanellistDonald Smith has been founding Director of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival since 1989. He was instrumental in establishing the Scottish Storytelling Centre and the National Theatre of Scotland. 

As Director of The Netherbow Arts Centre from 1982, Donald was a festival-aholic, with multiple involvements in Fringe, the Puppet Animation Festival, the Old Town Festival, and the Scottish International Children's Festival. 

In more recent times, Donald has been involved in supporting Storytelling Festivals across the globe through performances and workshops. He is also currently CEO of TRACS, Traditional Arts and Culture Scotland. 

In his personal creative work, Donald Smith has written and directed for the theatre, authored or co-authored more than 25 books about Scottish culture, and striven to place radical creativity at the heart of Scottish education.
