To aid you in settling in, there are some helpful information pages and short videos on the University’s website, and this email will signpost some of the most important.

VISA

Firstly, and most importantly, if you have any questions regarding your student Visa and the conditions it imposes on you while you study please read the information on Visas and immigration (napier.ac.uk) and particularly Visa and immigration information for new students (napier.ac.uk)

You can contact our Visa and International Support team to get qualified advice on the visa process, or support with immigration questions.

Your student Visa will limit the number of hours that you can work in paid employment to 20 hours per week while you are studying. Please be sure you will have access to sufficient income to cover your living expenses beyond this.

ACCOMMODATION

Your next priority will be to find accommodation in Edinburgh. We strongly recommend you begin your search for a long-term address before your arrival in the city. Please see the guidance https://napier.ac.uk/study-with-us/accommodation There is information about the University’s own purpose-built student accommodation and also guidance if you prefer to stay in private rented accommodation in Edinburgh.

Some of our International Student Ambassadors have made a short video about their impressions of Edinburgh, which we are sure you will find interesting https://napier.ac.uk/study-with-us/international-students/contact-us

That link also provides contact details to chat to international students or contact us.

MATRICULATION

Be aware that if your programme offers any optional modules then you can only request your preferred option after you have fully matriculated. Similarly, you cannot access Moodle, which hosts course material and messages from your Programme Leader, or your student email account or other ENU student systems until you have completed your matriculation so please ensure you do that as a priority on your arrival in Edinburgh.
