How did the two of you meet?

Kendra and WillWe met in 2010 during our first year at Edinburgh Napier University. We were both staying in the same student accommodation block and quickly became friends. During our second year, and after spending more time together, our friendship grew into something more. Fast-forward to now, we are recently engaged, still living in Edinburgh and Kendra has returned to ENU to work at Bright Red Triangle (BRT), the University’s enterprise hub.

What have you been up to since graduation?

Kendra: After graduating in 2014 with a BA (Hons) in Festival and Event Management & Entrepreneurship, I ventured into freelancing, specialising in marketing, events, and community development. This led me to StartedIn, where I connected the Edinburgh tech community with international opportunities. During this time, I supported companies in Scotland and beyond with their marketing and event strategies, and initiated Scottish International Week, a global online conference. This opened the door to join the Scottish Business Network (SBN) as the Community and Strategic Partnerships Lead before returning to Edinburgh Napier and joining the Bright Red Triangle team. I continue to act as an Ambassador at SBN and voluntarily support the Global Entrepreneurship Network as their Director in Scotland.

Will: After completing my undergraduate engineering studies at ENU, I stayed at the University to do a Masters in Advanced Materials Engineering. Following that, I got a job as a Product Design Engineer for a consumer electronics startup based in Leith. For the past 4 years I have worked as a Product Engineer for Axon Cable Ltd.

What does your current role involve?

Kendra: As the Business Engagement and Communications Manager at Bright Red Triangle, my role involves leading our marketing campaigns, shaping our engagement strategy, and fostering valuable partnerships. In tandem, I find great fulfilment in supporting our community by providing expertise and facilitating meaningful connections. It's worth noting that BRT extends free lifelong enterprise support to our students, staff, and alumni—a truly fantastic resource for fostering growth and success.

Will: As a Product Engineer at Axon, my work revolves around the design and development of advanced cable and connector products for harsh environments, primarily in the aerospace and defence sectors. This includes mechanical design, environmental testing, and exploring new materials and techniques to enhance our product offerings.

Congratulations on your engagement! What is your favourite thing about each other?

Kendra: Thank you! Choosing just one thing is tough, but I absolutely love Will's smile.

Will: Her kindness - she has a big heart and is always there for others.
