Skills Development for Tourism Professionals
Effective leadership is consistently identified as a key driver of growth for all business sectors, but tourism faces particular challenges, given the range, scale and mix of businesses that need to work together to deliver a great customer experience.
This innovative award-winning programme is fully funded by Scottish Enterprise, working alongside the Scottish tourism industry and delivered by Edinburgh Napier University.
Based on an internationally acclaimed initiative originating from Melbourne, Australia, the DLP is designed to equip emerging tourism leaders with the skills, knowledge and networks that they need to become effective destination leaders.
Six previous programmes have been delivered to more than 120 participants from Edinburgh and Glasgow, Fife, Argyll & The Isles, and Aberdeenshire and Tayside. The most recent cohort (shown below) graduated in September 2021, at a ceremony at The Bonham Hotel, Edinburgh.
Who is it for?
The programme is open to talented individuals who already have a strong track record in leadership within their own organisation and/or within their destination. Applicants must also have ambition, commitment and passion for developing themselves, their business and their destination, which must be demonstrated in the personal statement submitted with their application .
