Biography

I have been a midwife for 30 years combining academic and clinical practice. I have worked in several clinical contexts including as a research midwife. During my career I have been lucky enough to volunteer with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and have travelled to Kenya on several occasions to facilitate learning with respect to obstetric emergencies.
I have a particular interest in obesity and maternal nutrition and communication and consultation skills. I aim to develop my research, ensuring that we provide robust educational opportunities for our midwifery workforce.
