Can I still apply for this position if I am a non-EEA national and need sponsorship?

Yes. Edinburgh Napier University is committed to bringing the world’s top research minds to Edinburgh for these vacancies. We welcome applications from outside the European Economic Area (EEA).  However, for applicants from outside the EEA, who do not currently have UK working permissions to allow them to work at the University, the University will need to obtain a Certificate of Sponsorship from UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) under the Points-Based System. Certificates of Sponsorship can only be obtained for posts at an appropriate skill level, where the University has met the labour market test, and there is no suitably qualified applicant who is an EEA National, unless an exemption applies to such criteria.

How do I complete the “Application Form” to present my details for the Research post?

When you click on the “Apply” button, you will be directed to our candidate management portal.

  1. Please create a new account using your email address that you most frequently use for email communication. 
  2. Once you have registered your email address please login and complete the application form. There are multiple pages to complete. 
  3. Please ensure that you articulate and summarise your research experience to date in the employment history page. We would like to see a relevant summary of all your research skills, academic prowess and how you will best utilise your skills to bring pioneering research to Edinburgh Napier University. 

Please note: You cannot go back and edit your application once it has been submitted.

Can I send a CV rather than an application form? 

No. However, you can attach your CV under the “documents” section of the application form. Please attach your CV to compliment your full application. We can accept either Word or PDF formats for your CV. Applicants need to be aware that submission of a CV on its own is not acceptable. Only a fully completed Edinburgh Napier University application form will be considered by the shortlisting panel.

When I return my application form, will you acknowledge receipt?

Yes. Once your application form has been submitted to us, you will receive an email to notify you that your application has been successfully delivered.

Can I request feedback if I am unsuccessful at the shortlisting stage?

No. Due to the extremely high volume of applications we are anticipating for these positions, we will not be able to provide specific feedback to candidates not shortlisted for interview. 

Am I notified if I have been unsuccessful?

Yes. Edinburgh Napier University will endeavour to send you an email to let you know that your application has been unsuccessful. 

If I am unsuccessful, will there be further opportunities? 

Yes. This scheme will be running for the next three years. There will be a further positions, appointed in 2018 and 2019 respectively. If you are unsuccessful this year, please continue to consider opportunities at Edinburgh Napier University. 

Will Edinburgh Napier University support me with relocation?

Yes. If you are one of the successful candidates, the University will support you (and your family if applicable) with your relocation to Edinburgh. If you are based outside the United Kingdom, we will also provide relocation support.
