Call for Papers: Management, Governance and Ethical Finance Conference 2019

Start date and time

Wednesday 10 April 2019

to Thursday 11 April 2019

Location

Craiglockhart Campus, Edinburgh Napier University.

The Edinburgh-based International Centre for Management and Governance Research (ICMGR) is hosting an international conference on ‘Management, Governance and Ethical Finance’ on 10 -11 April 2019 in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. Following the success of past events in September 2018, May 2018 and May 2017, the forthcoming conference offers an excellent platform for critical discourse and debates on issues related to management, governance and ethical finance.

Integrity deficit and corruption are great challenges to economic development and human progress. Mismanagement of resources and corrupt and often, unethical financial practices, were often revealed following corporate scandals and financial crisis. While such practices have historically been primarily, albeit certainly not exclusively, been associated with developing and emerging economies, in the most recent decade, macro and micro-level financial crisis and corruption have also beleaguered ‘advanced’ western and eastern economies.

Developing human capital of high integrity, strengthening governance and CSR, and promoting ethical finance and investment practices are critical to economic and environmental sustainability of current and future generations.

This conference provides a unique nexus of state of the art international research with international practice expertise to engage in a critical discourse to address these global challenges.

In the spirit of diversity and inclusivity, this conference calls for papers that examine critical issues in the following topics but not limited to:

• Governance of public resources and resources of private organisations
• Human resource management (including leadership and talent management)
• Precarious employment, critical labour market analysis and executive compensation
• Ethical finance and investment (including Islamic finance)
• Ethical impacts of financial systems and institutions
• Corporate social responsibility and sustainability
• Financing Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)
• Regulating corruption, money laundering and abuse of power
• International human rights, public interest and beyond GDP
• Transnational, identity and mobility
• Innovation, social enterprise and entrepreneurship
• Critical strategic perspectives

Selected papers from this conference will be included in the on-going edited book project.
