Visioning the future city - a discussion on the narrative of sustainability through events and festivals
This conceptual work discusses a visionary future of the city destination in which festival and events have a purposeful role in narrating sustainable development – a megatrend that infuses global society. It is a component of a larger work.
Approach: Viewpoint approach in which visionary futures has been applied. The work is both scoping in nature and, as visionary, views macro-marketing concepts with reference to mega and emergent trends.
Purpose: investigation of perceptions of sustainability by festival directors/ leaders (growing from apparent restrictions) and exploration of collective visioning
