Research on the sustainability of pilgrimage tourism from the observations and perspectives of both, modern pilgrims and hosting communities. Pilgrimage tourism has helped shape and form the landscapes of its hosting domains for a centuries. Modern travel has projected age-old trails and places of sacred-significance to the masses and a new generation an typology of participant . Moreover, more studies are needed to assess exactly what is required in terms of sustainable measures.
