Hindsight: Improving awareness through rearward vision
While cycling is currently undergoing a period of growth, safety concerns - primarily relating to coexistence with motorised vehicles - remains a significant barrier to participation amongst potential cyclists.

The aim of this project is to develop a novel piece of cycling eyewear with the potential to improve the safety of cyclists by providing enhanced rearward vision using a mirrored lens. It is important to establish the efficacy of the eyewear for enhancing rearward vision and equally to ensure that the final design (lens, mirror, and frame angles/shape etc.) does not impede forward vision. This project aims to examine the effect of the eyewear upon simple reaction time, cognition, and perceived efficacy/comfort.
