Incubation hub for sustainable cities and communities v2
The recent data published by the SFC suggest that the percentage of College leavers that progress to University degrees is 43% for Engineering, significantly lower than other disiplines, and this is even lower for Colleges in SE Scotland (38%). Another issue is the lack of academic content in the curricula of College courses. Such a lack not only creates a larger gap between colleges and Universities but also does not allow students to develop research skills, which are considered essential from an employability perspective. The aim of the project is to establish a certified course through which students enrolled on HN courses in colleges will engage with state-of-the-art research projects that aim to address key current industry needs and thereby will be able to develop research skills. The current project also aims to promote their articulation to engineering programmes related to sustainable development and increase their employability.
