Phase 2: Digital Transformation Of The Building Standards System
This research will support the Scottish Government’s commitments to the digital transformation of the building standards system through its Building Standards Futures Board. The evidence provided by the research will inform the development of interoperability to improve the value of data within the building standards system.
Aims & Objectives:
The aim of this project is to:
• Investigate digital tools, guidance and data which could be provided centrally by Scottish Government in support of users of the building standards system, particularly in designing and constructing buildings in compliance with the requirements of the mandatory building standards.
• Contribute to the Data Mission of the DPP.

The objectives of the project are to:
• Identify and classify all potential data sets used by applicants for building warrant and local authority verifiers, when assessing proposals against the mandatory standards and the guidance contained within the Domestic and Non-Domestic Technical Handbooks.
• Present specified information for each data set in the format required by the Data Mission of the DPP.
• Provide a list of national digital building standards guidance, it’s location, accessibility and when it was last updated.
• Present details of digital tools which could potentially contribute in terms of value, suitability and realistic opportunity, to a single location for resources to support users of the building standards technical handbooks.
