Retrofit Evaluation of Non Domestic Buildings in Scotland prior to 4th Generation Heat Networks
The development of a 4th generation smart heating and cooling network is an emerging technology to supply low carbon heat. However, the technology relies on low-temperature flow delivery temperatures whereas most existing buildings are designed to run on high-temperature flow. Retrofit measures must be applied to ensure the connection to low-temperature heat flow can provide satisfactory occupant comfort while reducing energy use. The aim of this research is to assess the level of retrofit required for non-domestic building stock in order to realise the advantages of 4th generation heat networks in Scotland.
