If you are under 18, a UK Student Visa application requires written consent from both parents (or one with sole legal responsibility) or your legal guardian. You wil be asked to upload a parental consent letter and required evidential documents on CAS shield before we can issue your CAS.
If only one parent or legal guardian has sole custody or legal responsibility for you, that parent or legal guardian must confirm this in the letter and sign it.
Otherwise, both parents or legal guardians must sign the letter to show their consent.
You can download the consent letter template here.
Proof of Relationship
You must also upload a document that proves your relationship to your parent(s) or legal guardian(s). You can provide one of the following:
- your birth certificate
- an adoption certificate
- a court or government-issued document naming your legal guardian(s)
If your parent has sole custody or legal responsibility for you, you ust upload documents proving that, for example a legal document or a death certificate for example.
Before we can issue your CAS, you must upload both the signed consent letter and your proof of relationship to CAS shield.
The Visa and International Support Team will check these documents to make sure they meet UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requirements.
Once you have received your CAS, you must also include these documents when you submit your Student visa application.
Translations: If the documents are not in English or Welsh, they must be accompanied by a professional, certified translation that meets UKVI standards
