At the heart of Scotland’s inspiring capital, The Business School offers a distinctive, inclusive and dynamic educational environment. One of the largest and most modern Business Schools in Scotland, we believe in creating an international community of practice where people are given every opportunity to achieve their full potential.
The world of business is constantly evolving and we are dedicated to inspiring futures, to advancing knowledge, building competency and skills in our students to meet the needs of today and responding to the demands of tomorrow. Our students benefit from a lively, flexible and stimulating teaching and learning environment across a wide range of internationally recognised courses leading to awards of Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate degrees. Please take a look at our Craiglockhart Tour video for more on our beautiful campus.
We offer our students choice in the subjects they can study, allowing them to tailor a degree to suit their personal aspirations, career goals and individual preferences. The importance of the global business environment is reflected in our course design and enhanced through study abroad opportunities and the collective sharing of experiences within our multicultural student community.
The Next Generation of Business
On 23 October 2019 the Business School hosted a conference on the Skill Set required for Industry 4.0. See extracts from the sessions and learn how our curriculum is evolving to meet the future needs of business here.
For more than 30 years we have worked closely with organisations of all sizes, in the public, private and voluntary sectors, around the world to develop our courses, students and our services for business.
We have developed excellent connections with the corporate community and take a role in networking forums such as Scottish Enterprise, Quality Scotland and the Chamber of Commerce. We also act as official advisers to the Scottish Government and the Greater London Authority – Commission for a sustainable London 2012.
Reflective Learning Paper
Renowned for its close ties with practitioners, the Human Resources Subject Area within The Business School has developed a new series of Reflective Learning Papers on Leadership and People Practice as a collaborative process between academics and practitioners. Each paper will include a case study and offers practitioners directly applicable learning on current issues, which they can develop through reflecting on the Papers’ content and its potential application. Entrepreneurship and Innovation
We encourage and support our students and alumni who are interested in developing their business ideas by providing free support, including office space, access to PCs, advice and mentoring. More than 1,200 students each year take modules in entrepreneurship and our highly successful Moffat Centre provides ‘start-up’ business units that have helped launch 110 viable companies.
Our Bright Red Triangle consultancy unit provides opportunities for our students to link to business, while focusing on developing the student experience, student employability, and engagement with the business community. Bright Red Triangle aims to create and develop relationships that benefit all concerned while providing opportunities that both students and staff can benefit from.
