As a participant on one of our summer schools/short courses, you will have to the opportunity to visit lochs and glens, to witness amazing Scottish wildlife, to lose yourself in Scotland’s heroic stories, to take part in a world-class whisky distillery tour, or to try golf on a world-class golf course. Scotland’s history, nature, and geography will 
take your breath away. 

About the Course: 2024 English Language and Culture Summer School

 

The English Language and Culture Summer School, will take place in the Business School of Edinburgh Napier University at Craiglockhart campus in Edinburgh. The length of programme is 2 weeks, from 13 July to 27 July 2024. 

The course aims to balance learning and fun. You’ll learn about Britain and its history, with a focus on Scottish history. Your education in Scottish history and culture will be further enhanced by afternoon visits to Holyrood Palace (our current queen’s Edinburgh home), the Scottish Parliament and Edinburgh Castle, plus a full day trip to Falkland Palace (a favourite of past kings and Scotland’s most iconic monarch, Mary Queen of Scots) and the historically important town of St Andrews. Another full day trip takes place in the second week when you will visit the Highland town of Pitlochry, a whisky distillery (to find out how our national drink is made) and the beautiful Scottish countryside. Classes will also cover language, vocabulary, intercultural communication, academic 
discussion, and presentations. The course will culminate with you, the students, giving presentations in groups on the last Friday of the course.

This course is designed for international students who would like to improve their English language skills. To join this course, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum age of 18
  • Recommended: Intermediate English communication skills
