Entry requirements
Undergraduate
For all courses (with the exception of Nursing/Veterinary Nursing) students would usually be required to have completed the Matriculation Certificate (MATSEC) Studied at University of Malta with BC in Advanced Matriculation Exams and CCC in Intermediate Matriculation Exams. If a course requires a specific subject at grade B at SQA Higher then grade B in that subject will be required.
Please note that international students are unable to enrol onto the Nursing programmes.
International Baccalaureate
Award of Diploma with between 26 and 29 points or above depending on the course you choose to apply for. If a course requires a specific subject at grade B at SQA Higher then grade 5 or above in HL is required. Please see each individual course webpage for specific entry requirements.
European Baccalaureate
Pass with between 60 and 70% depending on the course you choose to apply for. If a course requires a specific subject at grade B at SQA Higher than 70% is required. Please see each individual course webpage for specific entry requirements.
Postgraduate
- Bachelor (General) degree equivalent to British Bachelor (Ordinary) degree standard - Requires 2 years' work expereince
- Bachelor (Honours) degree equivalent to British Bachelor (Honours) degree standard and requires a grade of 2.2 or above or 2.1 or above
- Diploma (university) equivalent to Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) standard (when studied at University of Malta) - Requires 5 years' work experience
- Higher Diploma equivalent to Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE) standard (when studied at University of Malta) - Requires 5 years' work experience
English language
Students from Malta are required to have obtained English at grade B (joint medium of instruction English & Maltese). Alternatively, you can sit an English language test to gain entry to the University.

We offer various pre-sessional English language programmes for applicants who have test results below the programme requirement. Some courses may require a higher English language score. Please search for the course you're interested in to find out more.
