Dementia Simulation Day - 21 March 2018

This unique one day course open to all health professionals will provide an insight into the experiences of people living with dementia and furnish you with skills required to support people with dementia both in acute and community environments.

This full day course covers the importance of communication, the environment, person-centred care, legal and ethical aspects of practice in caring for people with dementia. This will be facilitated through evidence-based learning, workshops and immersive simulation in a state-of-the-art simulation centre by a team of field experts. 

Learning outcomes

Understand the principles of dementia care, the disease processes and its causes

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the breadth and depth of challenges that the health and social care environment can present to a person with dementia
  • Gain a greater understanding of dementia from the person’s point of view and how we, as health care professionals, can enhance practice and improve the lives of people living with dementia
  • Gain an insight into the changes in behaviours which are common in dementia and why
  • Examine current clinical issues in behaviours which are common in dementia and why
  • Equip you with the skills to aid communication and promote person-centred care

The day can be tailored to the level of the delegates with more time and emphasis placed on the appropriate content.
