The 2023 Conference is the culmination of a period during which the Royal Society of Edinburgh Research Network was established, to further the work of the Centre for Child and Family law and Policy at Edinburgh Napier University. As our theme, we are focusing on the opportunities and challenges in law, policy and practice, for contemporary children and families, in Scotland, the UK, and the wider world.

The Centre aims to contribute to the understanding and development of Scots law and policy through collaborative and multi-disciplinary work. We aim to engage in a meaningful way with academics, legal professionals, law- and policy-makers, third sector organisations, and the people impacted by Child and Family Law (broadly understood), in order to bring about positive change.

The purpose of the Royal Society of Edinburgh Research Network funding is to build positive relationships between key individuals and organisations around Scotland and beyond, with a view to sharing ideas and research and strengthening links between those working in and around the field of Child and Family Law and policy.

We seek proposals from Law and other disciplines, from established Centre and Network members and those who are not so affiliated, including (but not limited to) Social Sciences, Childhood Studies, Social Work, Political Science, Health and Education, from the UK and beyond. We also welcome contributions from law and policy-makers, practitioners and the third sector.
