Alasdair joined the Centre for Smart Cities (formerly the Centre for Sustainable Communities) at Edinburgh Napier University in 2008 as a researcher specialising in sustainable urban development. He has since been involved in several high profile research projects (including SURegen, CLUE, EXPGOV, Smart Accelerator, Online S3) and his research activities have culminated in the publication of numerous academic papers, books, book chapters, white papers, conference papers and online literature. Alasdair is also a lecturer within the School of Engineering and the Built Environment at Edinburgh Napier University.
Alasdair holds a first class honours degree in Estate Management (RICS accredited), a masters degree in City Planning and Regeneration (RTPI accredited) and a Pg Cert in Learning, Teaching and Assessment Practice in Higher Education. He is a Chartered Planning and Development Surveyor (MRICS) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
