Biography

Dr. Nader Seyedkalali is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Business Management (Strategy) at the Business School, Edinburgh Napier University. He leads the MSc in International Business Management and is a member of the Centre for Business Innovation and Sustainable Solutions (CBISS).

He is a Strategic Management scholar, with a particular interest in how it connects with Technology and Sustainability—especially in the context of SMEs. He draws on capability- and resource-based perspectives, as well as theories of ambidexterity, resilience, cognition, and temporality, to explore how organizations navigate strategic paradoxes and build competitive advantage. He works confidently with both qualitative and quantitative methods. Dr. Seyedkalali’s work has appeared in journals such as the Journal of Organizational Change Management and the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior & Research.

He brings extensive experience in academia and consulting, having worked with C-level executives across the public sector, banking, telecommunications, and diversified business groups. He has contributed to the development of strategic plans and implementation frameworks across various industries.

Dr. Seyedkalali was previously Assistant Professor of Strategic Management at the Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies (IHCS). He has served as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Cologne in Germany and as a Visiting Professor at the University of Tehran, where he regularly taught modules in strategy and organization. He has supervised numerous PhD and master’s students, mentoring them in producing industry-relevant research.

He has shown academic leadership through institution-building and industry-academic engagement. At IHCS, he founded and directed the Centre for Innovation and Technology Studies, focusing on research and knowledge transfer in strategy and innovation. While collaborating with the University of Tehran, he also co-founded and chaired several major academic and industry-focused events, including the International Conferences on Strategic Management, the Business Analysis and Analytics Conference, and the National Strategy Award for Iranian Companies. These initiatives brought together hundreds of professionals from academia and industry, fostering collaboration and the exchange of impactful ideas.

Outside academia, Dr. Seyedkalali is a bibliophile with a deep interest in world literature and history. He values books not only for the knowledge they offer but also for the meaningful conversations they inspire—enriching both his personal and professional life.
