Entry requirements

Undergraduate

You will be eligible to apply if you have gained the Senior Secondary School Certificate with 75% or above, or 500 points or above in CUEE is acceptable if you have sat the Gaokao exam.

We also recognise the Aptitude Scholastic Tests (ASTs) for entry to all our undergraduate programmes. The AST grades are equivalent to the below A Level grades:

B  170 - 209
C  140 - 169
D  100 - 139

Specific entry requirements for each course (year 1 and year 2 if applicable) can be found on the course website here. Arts applicants may be subject to portfolio review or interview. Students will also need to meet the university's requirements for English language.

Postgraduate

You will be eligible to apply if you have completed a bachelors degree from a recognised institution with 70% or above.

English language

You are required to sit an English language test to gain entry to the University.

We also offer various pre-sessional English language programmes for applicants who have test results below the programme requirement.

Pathway programmes

Edinburgh Napier University International College (ENUIC) is an embedded on campus college for international students to start their studies at Edinburgh Napier University. It is located in the historic, city centre campus of Merchiston, with easy access to student accommodation.

Pathway programmes at ENUIC prepare students for their chosen future degree with academic and English language support. ENUIC offers students the option between International Stage One, International Stage Two, or an International Incorporated Masters.

 

Undergraduate

International Year One
English language requirement – IELTS 5.5 with no less than 5.5 in each component.

Academic requirement - Senior Secondary School Graduation Certificate: Successful completion of Secondary School Senior 2 with a minimum of 65% OR Senior 3 with below 60% Vocational High Schoolm, technical secondary school with a minimum of 70%

International Year Two
English language requirement – IELTS 5.5 with no less than 5.5 in each component.

Academic requirement - Senior Secondary School Graduation Certificate: Successful completion of one year of higher level study OR Graduation Certificate awarded below 60% or High School Middle 3 at 65% OR Achieve the GAOKAO with minimum 60%

Postgraduate

International Incorporated Masters
– One Term IELTS 6.0 overall with 5.5 minimum in all components
– Two Terms IELTS 5.5 overall with 5.5 minimum in all components

Academic requirement - Bachelor Degree: Chinese 3-year College Diploma in related subject area with 70%-74% or above OR Chinese 4-year Bachelor degree below 75% 3 years of 4 year Chinese degree with grade of 70%
