Entry requirements

Undergraduate

For all courses (with the exception of those listed below) students would usually be required to have completed the Reifeprüfung/Matura with a minimum grade of 3/Befriedigend. If a course requires a specific subject at grade B at SQA Higher then grade 2 in that subject will be required.

Please note that international students are unable to enrol onto the Nursing programmes.

International Baccalaureate

Award of Diploma with between 26 and 29 points or above depending on the course you choose to apply for. If a course requires a specific subject at grade B at SQA Higher then grade 5 or above in HL is required. Please see each individual course webpage for specific entry requirements.

European Baccalaureate

Pass with between 60 and 70% depending on the course you choose to apply for. If a course requires a specific subject at grade B at SQA Higher than 70% is required. Please see each individual course webpage for specific entry requirements.

Postgraduate

Students are required to have a Bachelor degree (British Bachelor (Honours) degree standard) OR Fachhochschuldiplom / Diplom (FH) (British Bachelor degree standard) at a mark of 2.7/5.0 or above which is equivalent to a 2:2. Note that ‘1’ is the highest mark. Kurzstudium qualifications are also accepted at 2.7/5.0 or above but would require 5 years’ work experience. A 2.5/5 or above grade would be equivalent to a 2:1.

English language

Students from Austria are required to have obtained English at grade 2. Alternatively, you can sit an English language test to gain entry to the University.

We also offer various pre-sessional English language programmes for applicants who have test results below the programme requirement.

Pathway programmes

Edinburgh Napier University International College (ENUIC) is an embedded on campus college for international students to start their studies at Edinburgh Napier University. It is located in the historic, city centre campus of Merchiston, with easy access to student accommodation.

Pathway programmes at ENUIC prepare students for their chosen future degree with academic and English language support. ENUIC offers students the option between International Stage One, International Stage Two, or an International Incorporated Masters.

 

Undergraduate

International Year One
English language requirement – IELTS 5.5 with no less than 5.5 in each component.

Academic requirement - Abschlussprüfungszeugni when studied for 2 years with a minimum grade of 4, Matura minimum average of 4

International Year Two
English language requirement – IELTS 5.5 with no less than 5.5 in each component.

Academic requirement - Abschlussprüfungszeugni when studied for 3 years with a minimum grade of 3.5, Matura minimum average of 3.8

Postgraduate

International Incorporated Masters
– One Term IELTS 6.0 overall with 5.5 minimum in all components
– Two Terms IELTS 5.5 overall with 5.5 minimum in all components

Academic requirement - Bachelor degree with minimum average of 4
